2010 FC Dinette Frame - what is under the fabric?

We are looking to remove the fabric on the dinette frame of our 2010 30' Flying Cloud and either reupholster or leave it bare (and/or possibly paint it depending on the material). Does anyone know what the dinette frame itself is made of?

Thanks

Hi - did you remove the fabric, I want to as well! Don't want that 1980s microfiber chenille in my RV lol.

Welcome to the forums! You happened to reply to a six year old post and that party hasn't checked back in since 6/2021.

If you are still interested in doing an upholstery upgrade, the frame is made from plywood and is not very difficult to recover yourself. The most difficult part is sewing the top seams to match the curved wings if your dinette has the same shape as the one pictured. I chose a vinyl finish, stamped with a grey denim fabric pattern, that wipes clean very easily.

Wow that's so beautiful! I don't sew but am good with wood and was hoping to patch sand paint dinette base instead.

I removed the whole unit and replaced with a recliner. Left the table and street side as is.
Correction; recovered the street side upholstery.
Sorry, no pix

This link leads to another thread with dinette pics.

The exposed wood in the chosen reply is quite similar to what you can expect to find after stripping the fabric. Since it was never expected to be seen, the particular plywood Airstream uses does not have either a high or medium quality grain/look to it. Do expect to use a paint rather than stain to achieve an acceptable finish.

You might find using spackle on the exposed plywood end grains as a pore filler will achieve a much smoother final surface that looks better once painted.
