2004 28’ Safari w/ SO gap

We just purchased a 2004 airstream safari and are doing a little remodeling inside, when we noticed that there is a gap in the floor on either side of the slide out right next to a little plastic drip pan. After further investigation, it seems like the slideout is going out too far as the rubber seal that usually covers that portion is not extending far enough to cover it. My question is how to fix this? Is there a way to set a different stopping distance for the slideout? Is there a way to seal that? Any help would be greatly appreciated. PS. this is my first post, and we might post in here a lot.

Here they are, hopefully. I am trying to figure out how to work this on my phone and it’s a little odd.

Hi,

I remember a thread on making alignment adjustments on trailer slides. I did a search back and this is the thread I've found. It maybe of some use to you.

OK haven't been there or done that but I think fellow slider Dave (SeeMore) has. I'll send him a PM let's see if Dave has this T shirt.

PRELIMINARY

I found this but it's just a CLUE until we can dive in deeper. If you'd like a copy of the full Power Gear manual send me a private message (PM) with your email, I'll send it. And if memory is working Al did the work finding several manuals on these systems.

Now after some of the dust settles take a look at the Slide Out Society.

Just for grins.

Welcome to all things Slide-Out and the best sub-forum group on this web site! I have a matching 2003 version of your trailer and have enjoyed expanding my education by fixing just about every system and/or portion/element during 18 years of ownership.

The drains and gasket relationship appear to be perfectly fine and there is no need for concern. Most owners never know of their existence as they have a layer of carpeting over the location. When the slide is fully extended the gasket seals and there should be no leak, hence no need for slide adjustment.

You will discover there is a small amount of water that remains on the horizontal surface after a rain and the squeegee effect of retraction will sometimes push water along the gasket. The drains are meant to allow that moisture to exit the interior should you have any water cascade along the gasket and onto the floor when initially retracting the slide.

I left the "cup" exposed (as seen in your photo) when I removed my carpet and installed vinyl flooring. The bench seats in the dinette will block the cups from view once re-installed on the slide floor.

Hey Neighbor, you've come to the right place for knowledge of Airstreams. Cool, so you have a slide unit. I haven't seen one of those yet. We did a shell off restoration of a 1959 over a five year period, finished about a 1 1/2yr ago. Airforums helped me tremendously, with all sorts of things. Let me know if you have any questions or need some local help with something.

Thanks for the help guys!!! I haven’t fixed it yet, I’m thinking I have to remove the plate that is underneath the slideout to get to it, because the part of the rail that has the stop adjustments on it is not visible.

I bet you’ll find a hinged cover underneath covering the mechanism if like others. Remove a few screws maybe a sewer tube and there it is.

I just opened the hinge plate cover and there is the motor there but I don’t see a stop adjustment for the slideout here. Is it underneath the large riveted section on the belly of the camper?

I haven’t been under there for many years.

Might be time to find an ID mfgr tag on slide system and go to the service manuals and see if you can find specific info for your model.

We figured it out. It was there, just appeared to be pretty small of a bolt to hold the slideout in place, just couldn’t believe it. It is all fixed. Thank you guys!!!
