1980 Caravelle is ready for a change
Hi All, Our Caravelle, Bella, has been sitting in the back waiting for attention. I've read these forums off and on for years and have been blown away by time, effort & money that so many of you have put into your renovations. While I am still in the planning stages, hoping for some guidance on a few matters:
We live in Central Valley CA...Summers have lots of triple digits. Does this kind of heat make the end caps brittle? I like the look of metal (timzog's turned out great), but was there a reason Airstream used plastic instead of aluminum?
On the exterior, there was a blue trim that went around and the heat destroyed it. I'm assuming that if I replaced it, it would just happen again. This was just for cosmetics, right?
I would like to try a compost toilet...have any of you went that route and regretted it?
Anyone have a guess as to the shell weight of a 20' trailer? Do most people do the shell-off because the floors need to be replaced? Or is it for access to tanks?
Thank you, Laurie
