Thanks for the reply Tony .

Yes I would like to see detail of the finished hinge in the open and closed positions with and without the cushions .

On the factory set up you have to lift the back cushion onto the slid out platform as you close it, what a pain.

So it looks like you only replaced the parts of the sub floor that needed it. And you used 3/4" marine ply. If I'm not mistaken, the original floor in the 70's models is either 1/2" or 5/8". How did you match up the levels?

I have heard about some floors being 5/8" but I found mine to be 3/4". The marine ply matched perfectly without fairing it. The marine plywood was a true 3/4" if I remember correctly.

Yours will be one Land Yacht that truly lives up to its name!

It's beautiful, Tony. The upholstery perfectly complements the lovely woodwork. And what is even better is that beneath, behind, around all of the beautiful woodwork and furnishings is a solid, safe and very usable home away from home.

Must admit though that you had me at the trunk extension and black tank line and valve reconfiguration. That is just downright elegant!

Thank you for the complement. I am completely satisfied with the upholstery. The crazy thing is I bought enough different fabrics to do a couple of trailers more. I just felt the upholstery was real important for the total look I was after. I was worried about getting the fabric too dark but with the mahogany a certain richness was required. I think I said before I will either have to buy another trailer to fix up or sell the fabric. I think I felt a lot of the time I could spend a little extra money to get it right since I was saving a great deal of money doing the work myself.


Rbeasley, Yes I do have parts left, a great many. I need to sell them; I just have not gotten around to it. If there is something you are after please let me know. I do have every intention of pricing them fairly. My main concern is the ease of the sale.

I believe there are pictures of the valve arangement within this thread. I will check, if not I will add some.

Below are the pics of the gaucho. Note the pin that locks in up or down. It goes through a hole in a block glued to the frame work. The strap lifts the leaf/back up from the down (bed) position. I used two 36 inch piano hinges.

Tony thanks for the pic's.

So the cushions are separate from the slide boards .

What holds the rear panel in the up position ?
It looks like the back board rests against the shelf that is behind it at the front of the trailer.

When traveling does it stay up or fall down ?

I have not ran down the road with the new gaucho set up. Around the property turning it around the back has remained in place. If it does't I will use velcro.

It does bump up to the shelf. I will be putting some faux leather on the back side of the plywood so that is what you will see through the front window when the bed is in the up position. It will also help with any rubbing on the shelf.

Hi Folks,

Coming to the end, sort of. Here are pictures of the slide out pantry. I modified a rev-a- shelf. I should of just built it myself but it will do.

The pantry comes with a lock postion with a few pounds pull out resistance. I did the ole drop pin through a hole in the shelf trick, again, to keep it in a positive lock position when moving down the road. The real trick now is remembering to drop the pin in. This task goes on the things to do before leaving check list.

You can see the narrow shelf above that is perfect for a loaf of bread or the like.

Oh, the crazy reflection you see is on the bulk head going into the trailer on the left side, reflecting the stuff I have stored on the shelves inside the "trailer barn". It is not stuff in the trailer.

I got the drawer slides from Wurst - Lois and Company. The were the 500 lbs rated drawer slides. Ball bearing of course. I can't remember brand I will look if you need that. Either Blum or KN

Tony S, Thank you for so much for all the good information and ideas, beautiful wood work.
I have a few questions for you, how thick is the plywood used on your floor and what type ? did you have to reduce the thickness on the edge ? what is the tool that you used to cut the half lap, router ? and how much of the floor can you remove at one time, with the shell on like you did.
