It's probably too high for a regular flatbed tow truck but then again it probably also too long for one too. Check with any larger towing company in the area if you think you need to have it towed. Someone out there must have a low flatbed trailer made for doing just this sort of job. I know we do around here so I'm sure you do also.
Good luck. Great project

I have a 57 Overlander which is a 26' trailer. If the outside skins are good I'd grab it. Both my end caps were destroyed and I'm still glad I got mine. 13 panel endcaps are beautiful

Do you have a long distance to travel? My trailer had to be dug out of about a foot of dirt, and the tires actually held air. We only had about 8 miles to get it home, but it didn't fall apart on the road. The tires actually held air for about a year! If you take it slow, you should be ok.

Its 38 miles on mountain roads, it would be very difficult with some of the cutbacks. One of the towing companies have a flat bed they think they think would work. Becky how was the interior of yours? This one has complete missing sections of floor. Does anyone know how to find a missing door side window housing?

I'd be with Becky thinking you could tow it. I pulled mine quite a few miles to the welder with no floor at all. Just need to go slowly.
It will almost certainly have split rim wheels so I'd bring new wheels and tires. The Caravanners only weighed 2800 pounds and less of course if you are missing some bits.
The missing window will be a problem as it isn't a real common one. You can run a classified ad here and put the word out on your restoration thread. You'll find one.

Mitch,
Get the trailer!
It is worth way more and you find EVERY answer to any of your question here on the forum. There is a complete how to guide how to repair/redo the 1950s Hehr windows, and there are literally dozens and dozens of us who repair the frames and redo the floors. The new axle for my trailer is in the mail and hack - I have no good idea how to weld it on - yet.
As others have said, it's a ton of work but is so worth it.
I got my '57 Overlander last year (and should probably not mention that I hauled it back a 1000 miles on its original rims without any problems that is). Just get it and don't worry about technical advice.
But if you do decline, add me to the list of people that want the number of the seller :-)

Contact Frank at Franks Trailer Works in Baltimore, he probably has the window you are looking for...don't dilly dally that trailer is a gem! The Caravanner and in particular the 13 panel 57 is the best trailer Airstream made!!!

Mine had missing glass, so the floor was very rotted. My cabinets were missing, so you have a great head-start with the cabinets intact. The only original thing in my trailer now is the shower pan:-)

You're getting one of the very best years and models, but I am prejudiced.
One more suggestion for your rescue is to do something more than the lock to secure that suicide door. They do a lot of skin damage if they come open on the road.
Cheers,
Steve

I'd add to that a set of towing lights. You can get them cheap at an auto parts store. You never know what condition the originals will be in. Great trailer and congrats!

Made it home! Covered all the broken windows and the top vents, going to start removing the old carpet and rotten floor this weekend!
