12 volt Electrical Issue

We just returned from a short trip. All the electrical systems have been working perfectly and the trailer was plugged into a 30 amp, 120 volt outlet. The next day, the 12 volt system stopped working for no apparent reason. No lights, no refrigerator. But the 120 volt system is working (the outlets, microwave, etc).

Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong or where I should start looking?

You can answer me online or send an email to pheteplace (at) aol (dot) com.

Thanks,

DaveP

First check the battery voltage at the terminals and see if the terminals are tight. If you have to put a wrench on the terminals remove both negative terminals before putting a wrench on the positive terminal. If the batteries are good see if someone turned the storage switch to the off position. If that is OK check for battery voltage at the 12 volt panel.

If the batteries are dead check the output side of the convertor for 12 volts.

Thanks Howie. I found it. Measured 2 volts at the bus bars. The master switch was on. I was trying to remove the couch cushions when I saw a normal looking light switch on the front wall (behind the couch). I threw the switch and the 12 volt system came back on. Now to see if the batteries recover from being (almost) drained.

Grandkids were probably the culprits since they slept up there on our trip to RMNP.
