Wiring my brakes

Hi everyone,
I am about to install my new floors. The grey tanks and water tank are in place. So, brake wiring. It appears that originally the brakes were wired down the curb side to a central location between the axles where I had the two brake leads wire nutter to the four positive and four negative leads from the brakes. From the electric brakes the leads were lead through a hole in the belly pan and then connected to the leads from the trailer plug at the front of the trailer.
My question is, can I splice wires at the plug, to run down the curb side and the street side and then connect to the brake leads instead of the way they were originally? Are there any power issues, ie, one side receiving a stronger output than the other? What is flawed in my thinking?

Thank you,

Trey and his SilverBelle

Won't matter if you use decent size wire (#12) and good connectors, and all magnets are wired parallel not in series.

You'll use almost 4 times the wire your way, but no reason you couldn't do it. My research suggested that it's best to have all the brake wires the same length so there's no difference in resistance. I doubt there would be any practical difference in slightly different lengths of #12 wire carrying only one brake's current, but if you were concerned, you could cut all four wires the same length.

I guess I meant to say that I wanted one duplex wire to the street side brakes and one duplex wire to the curb side brakes and both brakes on each side wired together.

I thank you for your response!
