Where to buy brake shoes?

Was wondering where we should buy brake shoes for our 1973 Overlander?

That sells Dexter axle parts, which are used on most TT's. Airstreams use Henschen axles or Dexters, with Dexter break plates. You can also order them from Andy at Inland RV, or Airstream themselves. Don't forget to check your magnets! They wear out quicker than the brake shoes.

The brake shoes are not special for Airstreams. They can be purchased at any RV store. RV dealers order direct from RV parts distributors. Take one of your old ones with you to compare.

You can also check out companies that sell and service utility trailers. Sometimes just adding the word "recreational" to items needed on your A/S can quickly make the price double, even if it is a common part used in other products. Just like going to your marine dealer and buying belts and filters, you can get the same stuff at your corner parts house but much cheaper.

I replaced 4 entire brake assembly last summer at the factory and, I remember the price was around 89$ each.
They just took off the old brake sys housing(my unit is an 84)and installed the new ones.
When you buy them this way, it comes complete with the new brakes and magnetic.
Labor cost is additional.(65$ per hour)
BTW, This is an excellent time to repack the wheel bearings as well.
