New Electric Brakes not working on 64 Overlander

I recently started rehabing my 64 Overlander and started with the drive train first. Replaced shocks then took it to the shop to have the axles inspected, they are in good working order. Had the electric brakes replaced as well as the running lights checked and new plug put on trailer in front hooked it all up to a new brake controller. Outside running lights work well ( I replaced the originals with new tear drop lights) and everything worked well for 1-2 weeks. Then the electric brakes quit working and the green light on the brake controller went out. The running lights continued to work. Went back to the shop where the brake controller was checked and was operating properly. The shop states there is a ground wire "loose" on the trailer that is preventing the electric brakes from working. Does anyone haver any idea where to check for this issue?
Thank you.
