new brake pads for 76 sovereign
Does anyone know if you can pick up brake pads for the electric brakes at auto parts stores? I need 4 new sets for my 76 sovereign. I looked at my manual and it said my trailer was equipped w/kelsey-hayes brakes. Any assistance would be appreciated. I looked at some airstream parts websites and their pads were pretty pricey in my opinion.

The price depends on the quality shoes that you wish to make your life dependent on.

you can buy complete new brakes the backing plate new springs shoes and that magnet for $45 each it's the best way to go.
Just take 5 bolts off the old ones and you're on the road.

I agree with LI Pets, new shoes alone are 40 bux a set. You can get new backing plates completely assembled with all new parts for around 50 bux/spindle. Check out some the brake posts that on the forums there is some good vendors with good prices.

If you insist on retaining the disk brakes then you can pay Andy his price or take one of the pads down to the local car shop and ask for something close. After buying one set out of Texas for half the price that Andy wants I bought the second set of car brake pads. I simply had to use a bench grinder to remove the excess metal that was bigger than what was required for the Airstream. Most likely took 2 mins. per pad. They worked great. After that set were half shot the caliper holding brakets started to crack where they were welded. The controller on the toungue also left me without brakes in the middle of the Ozarks one time also. That was enough, I bought a set of electric drum brakes and drums for $280 from Kelsy or Dexter.

This is a drum brake choice. Chris's 67 is looking for disc brake pads. Not a backing plate and shoes.
Find a trailer store in South Carolina, like this one.
Welcome to Auto Safety House -
They service buses and trailers and are located in Phoenix. However this is a Dexter Dealer. And they may have K-H parts too. I am sure a major city near you will have a similar type of store that has K-H parts.

How do you know that? Chris 67 does not specify disc. He only mentions electric brakes.

Because he is asking for brake pads, not brake shoes.
Some people will use those terms in conversation as being interchangable for the replacement friction material. Really they are not. Brake shoes will stop a brake drum. Brake pads will stop a disc brake rotor.

We have the "disc brake" pads for the original Airstream disc brake system.
