Would you believe, I think I've found one on Amazon?, a few pages down on their list. Didn't see it last week. Deutsche Hydropo. In stock even. Praying that is, and works.
Thanks everybody.

NevadaGeo,
Please post a follow-up when you have time. We have the ActiBrake actuator and it's been working for us but wondering when it's going to give out. We had it inspected a few years back when there was a recall... ours was determined to be okay (no internal leakage) but it makes me wonder about the long-term viability of the ActiBrake actuator. A replacement actuator is an expensive proposition but it may behoove me to have a replacement on hand.
Looking forward to hearing about your experience with the Deutsche Hydropo Alpha 1600.
Thanks

^X2. I also still have my, now 16 year old actibrake. Has always worked flawlessly....but for how long? I do exchange the fluid every 2 years.

I got the unit. The seller has been communicating every day through Amazon, I lost a day by not finding their email down in there. Was at the post office yesterday but I got home too late to pick it up. Now to install it this weekend. They seem to be a very helpful bunch.

Sorry I didn't retype this in Friday, logged in then spent too long composing; when I hit "send" everything I typed disappeared. I had timed out. Most annoying.
The new Hydropo is narrower and a bit taller than the Actibrake. Essentially the same wiring, straight forward to wire in. It took a bit to figure that the "back up battery, recharging" meant the trailer battery. The hydraulic port is on the side instead of the front, so I bought some new piping. Spent a couple days checking with experts that the brass fitting I got off the Actibrake would mate up to the stainless fitting on the Hydropo, they said it was the same type. Tightened things up, pulled the breakaway switch and it worked.
To bleed the brakes I use two long wires with a switch on the end, plugged into the hot and signal wire on the umbilical. So I can crawl under and open a bleeder, flip the switch on, close, turn the actuator off. Fill the reservoir, do the next brake. The Hydropo has a small reservoir, not a half a quart.
The Hydropo slams the calipers around like it means business, I never saw the Actibrake do that.
I put the actuator in the same box that the vacuum booster was in, behind the propane tanks. Same old cover. With another bottle of brake fluid and a funnel under there.
Test drive will be Friday to my vacation on the Black Rock Desert.
Work and work and several other surprises got in my way of getting er done right away.

Nevadageo,
Sounds promising, any chance for a pic of the unit installed?
When you drive it be aware of the if an delay in braking from the trailer. With 4 piston Dexter's its very likely that air bubbles are trapped in the top of the inboard caliper and they can be quite content to stay there. To bleed those out the new design hose has a nut and short section of steel pipe with a flare that allows you to crack the inboard caliper fittings to purge those last bubbles out. When all's well delay is nearly imperceptible.

Sorry I've been racing around and forgetfull to give a report on the actuator. Seemed to work well with no issues. Only went about 400 miles with few mountains. I still haven't gotten my controller set up right yet, but that's my lack of programming skills.
I think the Hydrapro is a good unit to replace your Actibrake when it gets old.

Good to hear it worked out! I'm in the middle of redoing the (original) disc brakes on my '78, it would be interesting to see a picture of your actuator setup if you get the chance.
I just got my new actuator mounted, temporarily, on the trailer tongue. I have a deep cycle battery sitting in the old vacuum booster tray. I went with a Hydrastar 1,600 psi actuator: https://www.etrailer.com/Brake-Actua...tar/HBA16.html
