ITBC on 2011 Silverado locks up AS brakes
I have a 73 Overlander 27ft. I just got a Silverado 2500 HD LTZ "with everything" including an Integrated Trailer Brake Controller that gets set by the computer on the dash, e.g., it will say brake delay 5. But when I hook up the AS, all the lights work correctly, but the brakes come on and stay on and the dash board readout goes to 0. Does it need a fuse? What's with it coming with a dummy fuse? Does it need a ground? Anyone with similar experience or solutions?

1st question that comes to mind is which brakes does your Airstream have? Electric magnets or electric over hydraulic ?

If so you may have to go with a TruControl or P3 type controller.

Remember - you can only support Electric brakes with your GM brand Brake Controller vice the Ford & Ram trucks.
If you do have Electric brakes, then I would next check for shorts in the wiring, sounds like when the voltage is applied the brakes are engaging - also, check the magnets in the drum brake assembly for shorts...
Good Luck - get her on the road!

Our 2008 Silverado LTZ with the dash controller operates perfectly when pulling our 1999 Excella. So you know, at least, that one configuration works without modification.

Hmm . . . Never heard the end of this current story, but OUR situation has changed in the past two weeks. Now our integrated controller will not lock up the brakes at even the highest setting of 10 on the gain. In the past I could lock up at between 6-8, and we generally travelled for over 10,000 miles set a 8.5 with nice control. Manually applying the trailer brake now SLOWS sum but will not stop us.
QUESTION: What should I check first, second, third . . .?

I would check gain at the controller...trailer connector...magnet's.
Sounds like a wiring concern.
