HELP, please Argosy 78' motorhome

Hey Folks,
I just started a full restoration on a 78' Argosy 24' motorhome. I have some guys working on the motor. We are having some trouble finding new front brake hoses???? I was just told by the chevy dealer that i need to find the code sticker to find out if the brakes are J-?? could be 7,8,9? I need this to go to Napa with to hopefully cross match some brake hoses. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It has a chevy 454, if that helps? Feel free to email me directly at smitty66@mac.com

Thanks in Advance,

Denise

Denise,

I'm not an expert on Chevy brakes but I came up with this info a while back. The first column doesn't specifically mention JB9 brakes but I pretty sure your 24' Argosy will have the JB9 brake system. Your motorhome will have front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. They should be able to measure your brake shoes and look at the list below to verify if JB9 is correct.

Hopefully this information will get you want you need.

Brad

JB1 BRAKE, MANUAL, DISC/DRUM, 4300 LBS
JB3 BRAKE, POWER, DISC/DRUM, 4600 LBS
JB5 BRAKE, POWER, DISC/DRUM, 6400 LBS
JB6 BRAKE, POWER, DISC, DRUM 7200 LBS
JB7 BRAKE, POWER, DISC, DRUM 8400 L85
JB8 8RAKE, POWER, DISC, DRUM 10000 LBS

Physical examination using the following specifications:
Engine Front Rotor Rr Drum/Rotor Power Booster Production #

Gas 11.86" x 1.28" 11 x 2" None JB1

Gas 11.86" x 1.28" 11 x 2" 9.5" Single Diaphragm JB3

Denise,

Be sure and post the part numbers to the forum once you're sure they fit correctly. That info will help other motorhome owners when it comes time to find replacement parts.

Good luck!

Brad

Good idea~

brad,
Thanks I will do that. They come in on Monday, I am out of town for the week. But, I should find out if they fit, and I will post it.

Thanks again, you saved me a ton of time.
