Factory brake controller HELP

Is anyone using a Chevy factory brake controller. If so does it work or are you considering an after market controller.

I am working with a 2012 Chevy that has a factory controller.

I have a 2015 gmc with one, maybe same. It has worked well. Why are you considering after market?

My daughter had traded her truck for a 2012 and I had removed the Prodigy from the old truck.

We had no idea the 12 had a controller built in so I just did the installation and then found the conflict. Once both were installed the question can up. If there were bad reactions to the factory unit I would have to cut it out in order to get the Prodigy to work so I asked first.

I like the factory controller better than any 3rd party one. It just feels more responsive. Yes, it's subjective. But, if I hated it, I would have wired in my old prodigy, even though it's a pain.

The only downside to a factory brake controller is that some don't work well with some hydraulic disc brake actuators. In that case, there might be an adapter available; or I've heard of wiring in a pair of magnets in parallel with the actuator to fake out the factory controller.

If I ever need a new truck, factory towing mirrors and factory brake controller are mandatory.

We had to clip the blue wire to remove data awareness to the factory brake controller on our 2012 Ram 2500 HD Cummins as it was not compatible with the disk brake conversion on our Classic. No error codes were thrown after the wire was cut.

GMC Integrated Brake Controller

I used to have the Prodigy on my Mercedes and it worked very well and included it when I traded up to a 2016 GMC Yukon with Max Towing Package with the integrated brake controller.

I must admit that I was a little skeptical at first, but the hook-up was seamless and the controller actually works better on hills working with the vehicles stability system.

As others have stated, I would try it first, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised - I was.
