Brake pads for 2007 airstream classic limited disc brakes
I have a 2007 classic limited 30 foot trailer and am trying to replace a loose brake pad. The dealer seems unable to find the pads, albeit they haven't contacted airstream in Jackson yet. Anyone know where I can find those pads?
Thanks,
Ray Hoem

Try your local Dexter Axle distributor.

Dexter website http://www.dexteraxle.com/inc/sdetail/6670/27938 I think these are the ones, confirm first. Axle has a label tag on the tube.

Ray,
If they are dual piston calipers, the brakes are most likely Dexter, if single piston then Kodiak.

I believe all 2007 classics used dexter, unless someone changed them out.

Are all pads uniformly worn or just one or two pads? Big difference in correct repair procedures.

What do you mean by "loose"? If the abrasive material has come unbonded from the backing plate, you need a new pad. If the pad assembly is rattling around in the caliper you have a stuck caliper.

I have an early 2006 30ft with disc brake and the part number for Raybestos replacement pads is PGD289M. My trailer has Kodiak brakes and the pads are the same as a early 90s Sunbird front brakes.
One pad is half the thickness as the other, they are not the same thickness.

One pad has broken loose from the backing plate and is "rattling around" in the caliper. Albeit, in saying that, the brakes work fine, except for an extreme squealing when in use. The pads both look as if they are wearing evenly although I haven't measured them.

I'd suggest also looking at rotor for possible damage from pad drag beyond normal pad drag. Compare to other rotors.
Highly suggest inspecting piston boot seals. Torn or damaged can allow water to get on steel piston and rust against iron caliper housing causing bigger future problems.
I have done fairly extensive work on mine a few years ago. Working great uniform braking and imperceptible delay on braking. Dexter four piston system.
Temp gun very highly recommended to monitor brake performance, check at fuel or rest stops to learn your normals.
