Brake Contoller will not engage trailer brakes

We are 5 minutes into our 1500 mile trip to Florida in our 25' 2017 FC and it seems the Tekonsha brake controller will not engage the trailer brakes. The green light is on on the controller and tried using the slide lever but that also didn't work. The controller is 1 year old and everything was working fine when we put it into storage 3 months ago. Any suggestions on what is wrong? Thanks!

Did you try the break away switch to see if that engages the brakes? All tail lights, brake lights, etc working on the trailer?

It is a good practice when hitching up after some time to insert and remove the umbilical cord into the TV receptacle a few times. The contacts do get dirty just sitting and this will clean them.

My guess also is that it is not plugged in good. On my Dodge I have to hit the back of the plug with a wrench and screwdriver to get it to seat or engage all the way. Or dirty contacts like Howie said,

When storing it is good to put electrical grease on the connections. This will enable the connections to stay rust free and connect better.

Thank you for the suggestions. I applied WD40 to both ends of the plug and made sure it was plugged in as far as I could. It seemed to improve a little bit as when moving the manual slide on the controller it did change from green to more of a yellow. Thought this would do it but brakes still do not engage, even when just applying the manual slide lever all the way to the left. The light never turned red which I thought it was supposed to do when pushing the lever all the way to the left. I pulled out the pin on the break away switch and the brakes did engage. The only thing I did different since it last worked was to remove and reinstall the batteries. I 'm pretty sure I didn't miss a cable. I usually got a spark when attaching the last negative but I think this is normal. Others have suggested checking the fuse but not sure where this would be. Could it be a fuse or breaker somewhere?
Thanks again!

I have a 2018 Ford F-150 with the intgaded brake system. I have a 2018 25 foot FB. My breaking did not seem to be working either. My old trailer only tona setting of 5 on the controller. But with the Airstream I had to turn it up to 10 setting. Now it’s working great. Don’t be afraid to turn the setting up.

Get a spray can of electrical contact cleaner at NAPA, Auto Zone, Pep Boys, or wherever,
spray both the 7 pin plug, and the female 7 pin female on the truck......do this religiously every time you hook up. This should take care of the problem...

CorrosionX may be a good option for the 7-pin and in general.

You may need a burnishing tool to reach inside your 7-way connector. As you work, a small amount of DeoxIT will help remove any corrosion. Follow up with Dielectric Grease to keep it clean.

Found the problem!!. The power dial on the right side was not high enough. Didn't know it had a dial on the right side until we watched a tube video on adjusting it. Just had it in for service where they had to go underr the dash so maybe it was moved then. Thanks for all the recommendations!!!
