Brake Away Switch and Wiring

I am new to the forum so please put up with me.

I am trying to repair the brake away brake system on a 1970 21' Globe Trotter. The electric brakes work just fine from the tow vehicle. However, I can not get them to engage when I pull the plunger from the brake away switch. I have power into the brake away switch from the coach battery and out when I pull the plunger. I realize it is a very simple system but all the wiring is hidden by the belly pan of the trailer.

I realize I have lost the connection between the brake away switch wire and the wiring harness for the brakes. Where along the wiring harness run is the most likely place the original connection was made? I really don't want to drop the belly pan.

Trace the output wire from the switch as far as you can. It should enter the belly pan close to the front of the trailer. There may be an access plate there. If so remove the plate and you should find the umbilical cord wires and the wire from the breakaway switch connection there. You want to connect the switch wire to the brake wire in the umbilical cord. If the connection is not there it may be directly above the floor.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did just that, however the brake away wire disappeared into the frame right at the switch and re-appeared at the back of the umbilical cord connection on the trailer hooked to the brake terminal. The wire was hot when it went into the frame and it was dead at the brake terminal.

I ran a new line along the outside of the frame and abandon the old wire in place. That solved the problem.
