Basecamp 20X Brakes Locking

We are new to Airstream. Our recent purchase of the Basecamp 20X has been and will continue to be a fulfilling experience. We trailered a boat for 20 years and we are well versed with towing.
We took delivery in February of 2021 and began our journey from SE US to NW US in May. We are using a Curt Bluetooth brake controller and after 2800 miles the brakes began locking up while coming to stops at lights. The apps was reinstalled, setting adjusted and finally a new brake controller was sent from Curt. The problem persist. My tow vehicle is a full size Range Rover. Does anyone know of a fix?

Hi

I would *guess* that this is more an issue with the brake controller than with the Basecamp. The Curt Bluetooth device is a bit unusual. No idea what might be wrong with it.

ETC51,

Any chance to do a test tow with a completely different tow vehicle?

Good luck and keep the info coming.

Just a thought…probably not a very good one…

After stopping somewhere safe where the problem occurs (empty parking lot), could you disconnect the 7-pin and see if the brakes release? That might confirm that it is brake controller.

Something Similar in Another Thread.

A similar type discussion is happening on this thread. https://www.airforums.com/forums/f44...m_medium=email

Maybe it will help. Several ideas being tossed around.

Good Luck.

As noted...inspect the brakes first. Electric trailer brakes can have issues all their own.

For some reason I would be bit uneasy of BT controlling my AS brakes.
If my wired unit fails it's much easier for this OF to diagnose &
repair.😂

Is BT being used because a wired version is difficult to wire or nonexistent?

Brakes Locking

All your comments have very helpful. We leave on August 22 for 4 days, Its a short drive. Best we were able to coordinate with AS for service is next month. Reading through the threads has prompted a visual inspection of the brakes before departing. A second set of threads had described some similar situations and when the drum brakes were inspected it became evident, the issue was with the brakes assembly. I'll pass on my finding. At times I've been so tempted not to use a controller, not a good idea. Nothing worst than feeling that tug when you approach a light. Letting off on the TV brakes helps plus allowing a greater distance to stop. Thanks again to all.
