6k or 7k brakes for 2005 25' Safari SE?

I have an early 2005 Safari Special Edition 25' and I'm considering putting on self adjusting style brakes since it probably is getting to need shoes and/or magnets. I see both 6k and 7k axle Dexter brakes advertised, although both appear to be the same size (12 x 2) with the same 5 hole backing plate hole pattern.

What is the difference, does it matter which I use and how do I tell if I have 6k or 7k rated axles?

thanks

Thumbs up

Keith,

Just went thru the Dexter shoe dilemma, here's what they told me.

The 12'' shoes are visually identical, the composition of the friction material being the only difference. Supposedly the 7k is more aggressive, with a higher concentration of the metal stuff. I've been in the field a long time and they looked and felt exactly the same, I checked out both at the RV store.
Went with the 7k for our Classic.

Look at the nameplate on the axles. The ratings will be there.

For quite a few years now, shoe lining with FF stamped on the side is a premium lining.
