Hello All,
The repeater will push the information from the sensors to the monitor and will typically ensure you have great reception. With that being said, there are a few wireless weather stations that run on a 433.92mhq, that could cause a reception issue, as we also run a 433.92mhq. Other than that the repeater should solve any reception issue.
Thanks,
Mike Benson

If I were installing the system I would install a switch to the repeater and install an "LED Idiot Light" just below the front window on the trailer that would come on when ever the repeater is powered. You would see it as you drove insuring that you turned the system on.
If you forgot to turn the repeater off as you disconnected the trailer the light would be in your face.

I mounted ours on the front of the power jack just under the center. I mounted it with go pro double stick tape and wired to the power jack source. I put a two wire disconnect in the line. If the red light of the repeater is on power is on.

See # 68 for a confirmation of Mike's ( Mr. TST) good advice.

Hello Gene,
I am sorry for the delay in getting back to answering your question. When you drop the trailer off and drive away. It confuses the system, the system does not receive a low pressure alert, or a high temp alert. So the monitor frantically looks for the sensors, and echo's the last valid signal it did receive, and will eventually drop out. However if you are going down the road and a get a rapid air loss, low pressure, or high temp it will immediately alarm you. You can test this theory by walking back and simply unscrew a sensor off the valve stem, and your monitor should go in an alarm mode in 3- 5 seconds. I recommend if you drop off your trailer before driving away, simply press and hold the MODE and MINUS button for approx 4 seconds and the tires in trailer position of the monitor will vanish, when you are ready to hook back up to your trailer simply press and hold the MODE and MINUS button again for approx 4 seconds and the tires will re-appear. If anyone has any other questions please feel free to ask or contact me anytime. I am always available for any one on this forum.
Safe Travels,
Mike Benson

Thanks Mike. I just (when I remember) turn the monitor off rather than mess with all those buttons on the top. I am afraid of buttons on small things—they are easy to screw up and since buttons do many different things, I avoid them. All I want to know is how to turn it on and off (glad for that, last TPMS system I had did not have a simple on/off switch) and how to toggle through the tires. With numerous buttons on everything and most of them do 2 or more things, I can't be bothered with trying to memorize that and all my passwords too. The best unit is the simple one to me—this rant is just a general rant against all electronic devices and not the TST system specifically.
Keep the buttons simple and you will be a hero to many of us.

Mike, does that button sequence force a reacquire of the sensors or put the monitor "asleep/pause"?

I am with Gene, I use the on/off switch. Easy peasy.

Understand, holding the Mode and Minus for 4 seconds will just make the trailer tires vanish, and when you are ready to get them back up, just hold the Mode and Minus for seconds and they will reappear, you can also just shut it off if that is easier for you.
Thanks and Have a Great Weekend!!

I installed the 510 system on my 27' international this weekend. I could not get the monitor to read the sensor on one of the tires. I changed the sensor 3 times with no luck. So, I decided to change the axel on the monitor. After numerous changes I finally got a reading. It's not a repeater problem as I had the monitor within feet if not inches from the tire that wasn't registering. Although, the monitor now seems to be receiving the information from the sensors, I still think a repeater is a good idea. The TST website doesn't clearly address which repeater should be used with the 510 system. So, does it matter? Is 507 repeater compatible with the 510?

I am considering a TST 507 for our 2015 FC 23D. Overkill? I guess it has rubber stems and I don't plan on swapping those out for a while due to all the other mods... Don't want to unbalance the wheels with the external sensors. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

We use the system and are very happy we do. We began to experience a slow leak (a nail) in NW Nevada. Fortunately we did not have to find out what would have happened if the system was not on our trailer to start giving us early indications of the issue. Worth every nickel in my opinion.

TST tire monitors
I've had my system for 6 years and wouldn't travel without them. I've been a dealer for them for 4 years. I don't get into the lengthy forum discussions but you are welcome to call me at 813-781-2995. I can answer any questions you have and can send you a set if you like. Jerry O'Connell. WBCCI # 2105.

Jerry, can you answer the question I had asked in this thread:
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f438...cy-147427.html
Is the "fast leakage alert" only sensitive to rate, and not linked to the "low pressure alert". The manual does not specifically say they are linked. I'm beginning to think the only way to find out for sure is for someone to do a moderate rate pressure bleed-off test.

The more I read the more questions I have! With a new FC 23D and lots of "must have" mods already done I am not sure I need to replace the rubber valve stems so I can install the TST 507 sensors - and after that get the wheels balanced with the sensors on. I am hoping Jerry can shed some light on this with a call.

I purchased a TST TPMS kit and have a couple of comments. I replaced the rubber valve stem with aluminum stems for the additional safety. I lost a valve stem years ago and the tire goes flat really quick!
As far as the sensors not effecting tire balance, that is far from the truth. Airstream only does a static balance on the wheels from the factory and that is very old school. I checked the balance before I replaced the valve stems and, from a dynamic/two plane balance they were far from being balanced. I did a 2 plane balance without the sensors and checked it with the sensors installed. The sensors make over an ounce of out of balance.
One thing I don't like about the TST sensors is that they stick way our from the wheel. A rock or almost any road debris would shear it off. Does anyone have a solution to this?

I think the best solution to balancing the running gear is a set of Centramatics.

Go for the Dill internal Tpms. They have the correct length and work great.

TST has both internal and external sensors. If you go externals I use the non flow thru type. Shorter than the flow thru's and easy to remove. They don't stick out as far.
And yes, get the tires dynamically balanced. When I got my Classic I went to Discount Tire. Replaced all of the rubber stems, replaced all of the lug nuts with solid nuts and had a balance down with the sensors installed. Under $100 for everything.
