TPMS i10 4 install question
Good morning, wishing to install Tire Minder TPMS on a 2023 22fb Caravel, Lithium Batteries and Smart shunt.
My question, The Tire Minder requires install of the booster module. Not sure where to attach the two alligator clips that are required for install. I can mount the booster on the frame behind the hitch assembly.
any suggestions on the alligator clip attachment. Don,t want to damage any AS components as i am still under warranty.
THANKS to all ! Dave
DO I really need the Booster Module ???

I have the TST version, but I mounted my repeater inside the plastic lid of the propane tank cover using Industrial Velcro. I then added a SAE-2 connector (reversed) and power it from the Zamp connector.
To be honest, I can't tell the difference with or without. I occasionally think it's a placebo and all that's inside is a tiny LED.

Zip tied mine to jack tongue. Justed Zamp plug for power. Just added SAE connector. Check polarity

From everything I've read, they mainly "require" the booster to reduce the likelihood of signal interference from other devices. Anecdotally I can say that I initially ran mine without the booster and over the course of our first season had 1 occasion where the signal dropped from one of the sensors for no obvious reasons. YMMV, as they say.
So I did eventually mount the booster on the exterior of the battery box with VHB tape. I put it high on the side near the top edge on the driver side, and the alligator clip wires are long enough to reach the battery terminals. I added strips of thin foam tape on the flat "flange" of the battery box so when the lid closes onto the wires they're not pinched between a metal-on-metal situation. So far, no issues with the setup and no further signal drops. When I remember (which is about 75% of the time...), I disconnect the negative alligator clip inside the battery box when I park the trailer between uses. Having the booster visible on the battery box helps on this front because I can see the green light and that's *supposed to be* my visual reminder to disconnect it during storage.

I ran my TST repeater inside the trailer. I put it on the switched side of the battery on/off switch. I didn't want it to be on all the time.
I took out the crappy stereo that came with the trailer and just stuck in the hole where 12V power was readily available.
I would try running with out the repeater to see how the sensors respond.

Mine is still sitting in the box. After four years of using the system, I have never needed it.

On my 25' AS's, I was able to get signal without the booster from my TST TPMS. With my 28' however, i was not able to get a good signal, so I installed it on the outside of the A frame, adjacent to the battery box in the middle of the A, behind the propane tanks. It is facing outside, so weather has not bothered it. 7 years; no issues. I would try without the booster first with your smaller AS. You can always add the antenna later if needed. Not a big install job.

Our local dealer installed ours in the battery box. Our original model was the A1A. When we upgraded to the I10 (yes they name the models after highways) they gave us a nice discount for trading in our old model. The new one came with a new booster but they told us we could continue using the old one and keep the new for a spare. Since we were in FL at the time we went right to their main office in Stewart and were treated like royalty. Their customer service is great.

Zip tie the repeater to the front of the jack stand, run the gator clips through the hole on the driver side of battery box; then clip red to positive and black to negative on one battery. The Tire Minder is a different system from TST that others have mentioned.

I mounted my TST repeater on the battery box lid with the supplied double sided tape. There is a hole in the side of the battery box to run the wires to the pos and neg terminals.

The tire minder is a very good product been using it on my
1965 Overlander 7 yrs.
The TPS extender does help in some conditions.
I connected ours to the positive wire on the electric Jack and added toggle switch to turn it off when not traveling. Works Great!

Not every application needs the "booster". You could try to run without one but if you get any dropped signal warning then you need the booster.
I have my booster inside my RV and I connected to a 12v hot line toward the rear of my Class-C. I would think that if you need one on your trailer anywhere in front of the axles would work.
The little batteries in the TPM sensor on the tire valves do not have much power so the booster can "push" the signal to the Monitor up by the driver.
I would connect the Booster to a wire that is "hot" when you are drivng. You do not need the TPM signal if you are not driving.
