Tire changes

Well our Michelin MTX MS LT's will have reached the 7 year mark on my Classic this July. Not wanting to press my luck, I have retired them from active service. I have repurposed the rear axle tires though as spares. One has become the spare for my van (the original spare was 15 years old, never touching the ground). The other became the replacement for the Classic's spare 15 years also, never on the ground). I bought 4 new 16" Michelin LT Defenders that were manufactured in January this year. I finally got them on the ground yesterday. Here's a some pictures of the MTX MS tire mounted on a new 16" wheel that I bought. Also two pictures of the Defenders. The Michelin's are the first tires I have used on my Classic that I were able to retire due to age, rather than failure!

Congrats on no tire failures. The only better news would be that you did indeed wear them out having many fun adventures.

I've switched to Michelin Defenders for my last two sets of tires on autos and l really like them. Going to need a third set (on a different vehicle) soon and will buy again. Did I recently read another thread on the suitability of auto tires on a trailer?

Mine are LT tires, 16 inch. E rated. There are some folks are using the auto Michelin tires in the 15 inch size. Those require derating when used in trailer service. Their load capacity when used in trailering is less than their stated sidewall capacity.

Ok, the E rating should be enough. Same rating as those I installed on my class b (9600 gvw) last week.
