Hi, guys,

Here's a DOT label from one of my tires.

DOT WDHH RMOR 187

I take it to mean that tire was made in the 18th month of 1997?

Geez. The other tires don't have them on the outside. Since it's parked atop pasture stubble, I'm not too enthused about crawling under it right now.

I'm going to save up a few bucks and put a proper concrete pad in for it.

Somehow, I don't think I'm going to tow it to Wal-mart. I think I'll just raise it here and take the tires in.

Close. 18th WEEK of 1997. As far as I know, there are only 12 months per annum. 527 would be 52nd week of 1997.

Thanks, Terry,

Tried to edit that, but the website said I'd timed out.

Well, the tire that lost its treads is dated 287.

We should all ask that tire installers put the DOT label on the outside.

I remember the sum total of discussion about tires I had with the PO.

"Will they make it to Georgia?"

"Sure. They're in good shape, and they're the Goodyear Marathons that Airstream recommends."

"They do LOOK good - plenty of tread on 'em."

"And they pull good, too. You'll see."

1997. There's a concept of dog's years. I wonder what this in tire years? Somewhere past senility, I suspect. There's also that concept of borrowed time. :-)

The radial tire will ride smoother than the bias ply will .The construction of the tire and how the belts are wrapped or overlaid makes the difference.
Bias plys are different in construction than the radial, steel belted or not.
the bias nylon cord tire will be kinda rough till they heat up and loose that
flat spot they get when sitting. I have bias 700-15 herculese tires on my
60 trdwnd ,no problems like em alot ,look good also. They are seemingly
draggy (if you will) when cold ,but that clears right up in the first couple of blocks ,they have 5 ply tread 4 ply sidewall LT tires. The strong construction
of them is what I like and no troubles so far so good. One thing to note is that
back when these trailers were new even up thru the seventies, there was no ST tire made ,no trailer had any ST tire usually a bias LT tire.My airstream
is a 24ft single axle so I need heavy duty tires .
