Spare tire for a '73

Hi, I have a 1973 AS Ambassador 29' (built in 70') with 6 lug/15" rims. Currently I dont have a spare, my tow vehicle is a 2000 Suburban that uses a steel 6 lug/16" (similar in actual height) can i use it as a spare for my trailer as well?

Check the offset and the bolt circle diameter.

The wheel rating should be a minimum of 2600 pounds.

Wheels take a huge beating when used on a tandem or tri-axle trailer.

Everytime you make a turn, those wheels received tremendous side pressures.

Make a turn in a parking lot and stop the rig, while in that turn. Look at how much the tires are twisting. That is what applies those side forces.

Just because a wheel may fit, does not make it useful, unless it's proper rated, except in an absolute emergency, where caution and safety are tossed to the wind.

For short distances, in fact you don't need a spare, as your Airstream will handle just fine at low speeds, with only 3 tires in use.

What's the serial number.

What your quoting, only happens to a stolen trailer, that's re-identified.

Post a side view photo and a serial number.

Only stolen trailers have mixed up ID's.

You will need the correct weight capacity as well, to make sure the wheel can handle the stresses of towing, like twisting and turning, as well as carrying the load.

Some states use the year the title is issued versus the model year of the vehicle. Makes for some real fun and games 30 years down the road.
