NEW TV tires
It appears to be time to replace my 2012 f150 tires. Currently I have 275/65R18 goodyear wranglers that are mud and snow rated. Previous owner lived in Wyoming, and probably a good tire for that area. But, I am wondering what folks are running for towing across the country.
Is a MS tire right or should I go to a light truck rated tire?
Noise abatement and good handling are important, but safety comes first.
What do you recommend?

Mud and snow rating don't affect safety or load capacity on the roads. They only affect traction in mud and snow. Whether or not you should stick with them really depends on how often you find yourself needing the extra gription in areas like that. If you don't frequently have need to run through mud or snow, then perhaps you'd be better served with a tire with more of a road specific tread.
The Goodyear Wrangle product line comes in a variety bearing the LT designation, meaning that you have the extra load capacity and sidewall strength. Depending on your towing setup and your cargo weights, you might be better served by an LT (light truck) tire than a P-rated (passenger car) tire.

Our Sprinter 4X4 came to us with Toyo Open Country AT’s 275/70/18. Rough riding and noisey. After 35K miles useless in snow. We replaced with a 265/70/18 Michelin Agilus rated with three “snowflakes” Colorado CDot approved. They are much smoother, quieter and the smaller biase eliniated body-roll fender rubbing. They are nice while towing our 29ft Squarestream

Ditto on the Michelin Agillis tire. Good ride and have worked well in snow and mud. Off road tires with large voids tend to throw rocks, not good with an Airstream. Discount Tire has Michelin tires on sale this weekend...lucky you!

According to the dealer my TV tires need to be replaced. Always take dealer recommendations with a ton if salt, especially when that item is on sale.
But, the service writer showed me a series of cracks on the tread that radiate out to the sidewall. Very thin (1/16" wide) and short (generally 1.5" to 2") long.
Do they need to be replaced?
If so, what do you think about hankook tires?

Cracks are definitely a sign your tires need replacement.
Also look at the date codes.
When I worked in a fleet service garage we used a lot of hankook tires on company cars and vans, they were a good value tire at the time, but that was 20 years ago.
Just about any tire that meets the required specifications and isn’t aged out or worn out will work. I currently own Cooper, BFG, General, Michelin, Goodyear, Motomaster, Hoosier and Mickey Thompson tires. All are a good tire when used for the appropriate application.

Kinda funny, when I was buying my Airstream, at an Airstream dealer, it was used, had the original tires on it, so I was going to get them to put new tires one... but they don't do tires. SO, in their case, if they suggested you did or didn't need tires, it wasn't based on making a sale, it was based on, whether or not you needed tires.

I run BFG KO2 with DT tread. DT is a harder tread compound for certain tire sizes used for 3/4 ton applications - they don’t wear as fast.
I’ve been very happy with the versatility / performance
(snow, rain, off-road, on-road, towing) and tread wear.

Michelin LTX AT-2 have been a great combination of on/off road for our F-150. Great traction in snow/mud, quiet on the road.

Hi, my 2014 F-150 came with that same size and brand name tires. But mine are "LT" load range "C" tires. I treasure my teeth and my wife's back, so I would never switch to load range "E" tires. I might just have to buy the same thing when the time comes.

I towed a 22' Sport across country with Goodyear Wrangler DuraTracs on my 2010 F150. They look aggressive but are quiet, handle good, and were good in the rain.

Check out Michelin Agilis CrossClimate
David, I replaced the factory Firestones with Michelin Agilis CrossClimates and have been very happy with them. Better ride, much better wet/snow traction.
Check out the reviews on them; they’re always at the top.
