I don't know about those numbers unless #1 was made in the first week of 817 AD.
As I recall—I haven't looked in a few years—there are 2 numbers, one the last 2 digits of the year, and another with the week made. I found them pretty easy to find (unless the tires are mounted with the numbers in the back) and were apart from other numbers. So, one number will be between 00 and 12 for the year, and the other the week (01-52). Or, 4 numbers in two groups of 2. I can't remember which comes first, but you can often figure that out unless it was made in the 7th week of 2008, or something of that nature. Not very clear, but a start.

Could be January of 1997 or January of 1987. Some manufacturers used a triangle after the DOT code to indicate manufacture after 1990, so if that's there the tire is no more than 15 years old. Otherwise, who knows.

FYI These are chinese Hi Run tires. They both are fairly new. I bought them 3-5 years ago. Of course they could have set in a warehouse for a while, but I hope not from 1987.

So the dates should have an "06" to "09" in the dates next to a number for the week.

Just bought new tires this morning. Stamped with "2212". 22nd week of 2012 is the tire build date. That's what you should look for, just a few numbers that are not part of a sequential line of numbers. They stand alone.

Thats right. Find the letters "DOT" imprinted on the tire near bead, maybe on one sidewall or both sides, and the last 4 digits beginning with the DOT are the week and year as by tiavergne on Post 7. For tires that have only 3 digits, they are 1999 or older and last three numbers would look like, 229, meaning 22nd week of 1999. Tires prior to 1990 don't have a born-on-date.
For tires newer that the year 2000
DOT983kke39302J 2212 2 digits for week out of 52, and 2 digits for year
from 1999 and older, and at this age should be tossed, DOTEG324 229 First 2 digits for week of year, last one for year

Check the other side. They only stamp the date codes in one side.
