Fred, thanks for sharing the comments from tire rack. The pictures look very similar to mine. Seems like nothing to worry about.
Thanks again

Thanks for the update. You might want to give your mechanic some feedback IMO.

Great link, Fred, thanks.

Bulge (out) is not the same as depression (in)

I believe the right tire is a depression left tire not as easy to see.

Try laying straight edge across to confirm in IN or Out.

Out should be replaced IMO

I have two posts on my blog about Bulges (out) along with tire Autopsy showing the real reason for the bulge.

Ditto. When the sun is just grazing the sidewalls, I see some unevenness on mine as well. Unless they are big, obvious bulges, I expect they are OK.

FYI -- An interesting resource regarding RV tire bumps/bulges:

https://www.rvtiresafety.net/2014/12...or-damage.html
https://www.rvtiresafety.net/2017/03...all-bumps.html
https://www.rvtiresafety.net/2012/01...o-failure.html
https://www.rvtiresafety.net/search?q=autopsy

Quite an amazing "autopsy" at that last link . . . . . .

Thanks Roger,

Peter

And just to be a bit pedantic:

It isn't the belt overlap that you are seeing - It's the PLY overlap. The belts are only under the tread.

I just picked up some Endurance LR E tires this past weekend and mounted them.

Looking at the outgoing Maxxis LR E tires, these seem like they have slightly less tread on them also compared to a spare I had that was still a Marathon, but honestly, last tires (Maxxis) I had on the rig for 7 years.

Maybe some of it is luck, maybe care, but I do keep my tires covered when outside and not rolling. I put armor all on the sides and I keep inflated to proper levels. I have the rims balanced and run centramatics on each hub.

Outgoing tires had about 15-18k on them. One note was that one of the curbside shock mounts was slightly bent and rubbing on the frame. I was a bit perplexed how that could have happened to just one mount, but not related to tires....will keep an eye on it.

One last thing I wanted to say was thanks a bunch for all these great posts on tires. I particularly want to thank tireman for all his great insights. Many of the points made here I have adopted over the years and I attribute as part of the reason why I haven't had to replace a blown tire (yet).

Thanks, but don't forget CapriRacer, the other tire engineer who keeps me honest so I don't drag everyone down the rabbit hold of Engineer Speak and technical minutia. He has a nice web site while I have a Blog. We each took a different approach to trying to help the RV community, but if you look you will see that the two sites compliment each other

15K+ on a set of 15” Endurance.Thank god I made it through 2 sets of Marathons, before the Endurance came out.All tires have bulges to some extent.I bought Endurance to get a ‘D’ rated tire that I could buy at Sams’s where ever I travel.I just don’t trust the chinese tires.

I also want to thank Tireman9 and Capriracer. Both of you have been extremely helpful. Mind you, I still feel a little uncomfortable having my tires at 80 psi, but I am doing it.

So how go you feel about the Space Shuttle's tires being inflated to 340 psi?

165,000 pounds empty vs. 5,900 empty. Pretending for laughs that the tire pressure difference was linear, and ignoring the landing impact load, then I calculate that my tire pressure should be 12.16 psi. Although i guess that would have to be 100% nitrogen.

4 main landing gear tires 44.5x16.0-21, 34 ply, 263 mph
2 nose landing gear tires 32x8.8, 20 ply, 250 mph

But you forget the mileage is probably under 5 miles with the mains only used once.
Could do the math but you probably do not want to pay $thousands for 5 mile use

Tireman9,

Who made the shuttle tires?

About how thick is the tire tread?
