Keep us informed if you get details, OK?

Was there evidence of the oil from within the ring?

I'll post when/if I find out. The inside of the wheels was black with oily dirt. Looks like they fell off, then got ground up by the wheels and non-rotating parts on the brakes. No sign of the ring of weight stuff.
Again, this is the only time I've ever seen this. The trailer has a lot of rough miles on it, several trips to Alaska, for one thing.

Hi, I have my tire/wheel assemblies spin balanced and mainly have Centramatics because trailer drums aren't balanced.

Anything's possible, of course. I just can't imagine anybody diabolical enough to jack up the trailer, pull off three wheels, rip apart the weight ring, and put everything back together as a joke.

Um....corrosion releasing the rings....and then them bouncing around the hub or drum till they just come apart and self destruct.

Also to and...they may have been installed inside out, hurrying up considerbbly the resultant failure.

That's logical....was the fourth one on inside-out?

Unless you have stitches and staples all over your face, and stand about 18" high, and don't own a comb....you've been eliminated from the suspect pool?

Leave the wheel weights

According to my analysis , it is best to have your Airstream's wheels balanced in addition to using Centramatic's product.

Agree with Tom....from looking at the weights that were used on my new wheels, I see no earthly way that the Centramatics could compensate adequately. I suppose you could luck out and find that your wheels were "on the money" without some weights, but think it unlikely. Not that expensive to have the wheels balanced -- and I think they only charged me an extra $7.50 for the force balancing. My TT tires are probably better balanced the my TV....

Hi, possible, but on my trailer, they can be installed either way. I chose to have my rings inward and the Centramatic logo facing out. [some wheels or hubs won't allow this]

Bob, I installed mine the same way you did -- though they would have fit in either direction...thought it was interesting that the instructions allowed that option. Guess if you had disc brakes you would have a different issue -- clearance!

The discs are of the "top hat" design....meaning there is quite a standoff from the disc to the wheel mounting surface. Discs can have the ring installed inward. IIRC I had to install that way to prevent ring to wheel interference.
