This is what I have on my trailers, good old American Bias-Ply tires

They are not cheap,

Enjoy,

I'm not recommending anything, but it might help others if you added tire size and trailer info.

POLITICS: (POLY)-many (TICKS)-bloodsuckers)

Michelin LTX M/S (E) rated tires on a 16" wheel.

No politics, Just My $.02

It's hard to beat Michelin, regardless.
Not an American company, but still great tires.
Be aware that Michelin does not make any trailer tires, so you'd be putting light truck tires on a trailer. Many have and love them.

I am currently running the 15" Michelin Defenders. My 3rd set of this tire series. So I like them. But...I think I am going to the Goodyear Endurance in 2 years when my tire change is due. It seems like Goodyear cured their trailer tire problems.

I used Maxxis for years after the Marathon debacle....but then Goodyear came out with a new trailer tire (new name escapes me at the moment), made in the USA and many have gone to it with great results. I have about 2000 miles on the new Goodyear...I think they are called Endurance.

I’m very happy with my old year endurance. No problem in three years. The cost savings I can replace ever four years .i know your post ask about a different brand than Goodyear. The new endurance Goodyear seems to be good. I don’t hear or read bad about them all the best

I would only use Maxxis ST8008 or Goodyear Endurance trailer tires. If you want LT tires then I would use the Michelin's.

Send a message via Yahoo to Lance M
On an old liner I think the Yokohama RY-215 would be a good choice.

Don,
Thanks for makinging this political. Can't anyone ask a simple question anymore without someone going political?

To All that read this post, please just provide any other alternative trailer tire recommendations other than Goodyear. I would prefer Made in the USA. Please no more political comments or comments to bait someone into going down that path.
As a suggestion for posting in the future is to add some more detail to your request, like why are you excluding this US company?

Goodyear is a 120+ year old US company with revenues in the billions employing 60,000 + people mostly in the US. They have done something right to survive this long. In the tire world they do have a big target on their back. And in the trailer tire world that have made some, well less than tires. However it is a company that fits your only stated requirement as in Made in the USA.

So your question may be too simple and leads the reader to go to places you never intended. But details and clarity are missing from the "simple" question. In addition your simple question is assumed to be for a trailer but could be for your TV. I could also add your usage of the vehicle in question can help us to give feedback. As in if for a trailer that gets towed once or twice a year is far different than full timing.

This is the route I went as well. Logged several thousand miles on them and am quite happy.

Bought 5 GY Endurance today

Just replaced all 5 GY Marathons with GY Endurance today.

Used Trailer Aid on one side and camco leveling blocks on the other side to take 2 tires off at a time. Went with push through high pressure valves because I wasn't able to track down metal clamp on valves that would fit.

It was just tire time. Got BFG Commercial.

These things have belted sidewalls and resist scrubbing. It is like they designed a tire to out last a crazy 20 year old delivery driver.

Price was good too.

Mine are 16x5.

Know case of "new" Goodyear failure

Friends of ours blew a tire on their 5th wheel enroute to an event we all were attending. They decide to replace all the tires before their return home and purchased Goodyears from Camping World. On their return home one of the new tires blew out, causing significant damage. This was a brand new tire, and as a side note Goodyear paid for the damage. The most unsettling thing they told us was the blowout happened at night, and they were forced to pull over on an Interstate to deal with it. I don't know how much you are going to be pulling a 1955 trailer, so your planned use could help you decide what brand to go with

It's not that I doubt what happened and I don't want to sound like I'm defending Goodyear because clearly they stood behind the product (prob moreso post Marathon issues), but any tire can fail, and 5th wheelers I have noticed on the road have been 2x more likely to be on the side of the road....of course any of us could be and at night, who knows what we don't see. Of course my observations are not scientific by any means, but I have noticed a far greater number of 5ers on the side of the road last 4-5 years. I also read on several forums, this one included how many folks were pleased with the new Goodyear trailer tires.
