1994 Excella 30 Classic

I know there are hundreds of pages of information on wheels and tires, but seems that everyone is working on their new airstream,2005 or newer, or their vintage models from the 1960s and 1970s. I know there is information on available on 1980s and 1990s models, but I don’t have the expertise to sift thru and find it.

Can I up grade to 16” wheels and tires on my 1994 30’ Classic? Will it work without modifications or special adjustments?

We have owned our 1994 Classic since 2003. We love it. It’s clean and well cared for and we wouldn’t hesitate to take anywhere Airstreams travel.

However, we have had two occasions of blowouts that have damaged our plumbing and curtailed our trip, during the past sixteen years. I’m fed up with the brands of ten ply tires that are available in 15”. It seems that they are all doomed to failure in about two years. And our airstream is garage stored.

One of the members of our Kentucky Unit upgraded his 1992 trailer to 16" LT tires. No problems. I also have a 1994 Classic 30 but luckily have not had tire issues yet, still running 15" tires. I regularly inspect them, maintain the tire pressure and take the weight off during the off season.

I certainly understand your frustrations and don't blame you for wanting to change tires sizes.
