Where to order and install axles

I am looking at purchasing a 24' Argosy that most likely will need new axle/wheel/brakes/shocks, etc.

Does anyone know whether I should order the parts from the A/S dealer (Buda, TX), or direct from Inland and take them to an axle shop in town somewhere (San Antonio, TX). What do you estimate the bill for this will be?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

$2.2k

I ordered my axles from Inlandrv, they can drop ship the axles to your installer.
The price with shocks and shipping is about $ 2200.00, if I remember right.
I installed them myself.

Thanks for the info! Do you happen to remember how long it took to receive them? Thanks again.

John.

It took about 2-3 weeks. I had them shipped to Andy, I believe together with some other customers axles.
Replacement was very straightforward, as I bought complete axles.
8 bolts (including shocks) and 4 wires each is all it takes.

Axle production time

All special ordered replacement axles are released to production, usually on a Wednesday.

Shipping is normally two weeks from that Wednesday.

Normally, during good weather, the maximum shipping time, is 5 to 6 working days. Depending on the distance from Ohio, the longer or shorter it takes as the case may be.

Complete axles are $800.00 each, plus shipping.

Normlly, maximum shipping costs $170.00 for two axles.

Sales tax is not charged unless your in California, as was the case with UWE.

Axle order

Thanks for the info!

I had better close on the trailer soon then if we want to hit the road over Thanksgiving!

Would I need the 10" or 12" for a '77 24" Argosy? What's the difference? ..I couldn't find anything on the Inland site regarding this...

Thanks again, John.

John.

An Argosy trailer should have 10 inch brakes.

To confirm this, look at the back side of the backing plate, and check the number of bolts that hold it on.

If 4 bolts are used, it's 10 inch. If 5 bolts were used it's 12 inch.

Also, back then a 10 inch backing plate used a square mounting flange on the axle. A 12 brake system used a round mounting flange.
