Thoughts on axles and storage…
I know it's the wrong time of year to ask this but does anybody have any thoughts on storing trailers during periods of non use. Specifically I mean jacking the trailer off the ground (using the appropriate tools and methods of course) so that the axles don’t build up a memory and the rubber stays pliable longer??? Any comments welcome.

Be sure to store it away from any corona discharge or ozone generators.

Andy,
Thanks - I want to make sure my new investment last a good long time.
Markdoane,
I do work for the power company so corona discharge actually is a concern for me . I don't plan on parking in any sub stations but you never know... An airstream does have a nice smooth surface and somewhat resembles what we call a corona ring, sort of.

Parking long term near an electrical substation may be a remote risk, but a lot of people use ozone generators to remove mold and cigarette smoke; they should be aware of the risk, especially in a closed shed or storage space.

Buttercup, our trailer sits still for 8 consecutive months each year while we are back home in England, so we set it on 4 alloy jack stands, purchased very cheaply from Wal-Mart. The rated capacity of the jack stands is way higher than the weight of the trailer. The stands go under the large steel plate girder from which the axles hang, one at the front and back end of each plate. This has to be kind to the wheel bearings and suspension. Nick.

i park my truck in substations every day and don't seem to notice the rubber parts wearing out any faster.
most of them are 138 to 12.4 kv.

I should qualify my previous cautionary statement:
"Be sure to store it away from any poorly maintained electrical substations with visible corona discharge, or closed buildings containing ozone generators."
