New Axle for 1970 Caravel

Well, finally pulled the trigger and ordered a new complete axle, wheels and tires from Andy at Inland RV. He took the order on a Saturday and had all the items ready to pick-up in about 4 days. Andy is a great guy and if your thinking of replacing your axle I would call him.

The installation is really very simple. A little time making a safe platform for the trailer to sit on front and rear. We used lumber and jack stands. Removed the bolts, cut the brake wiring and dropped the axle down. The new Dexter axle fit like a glove. Only had to drill for two bolt holes.

Complete installation done in about 6 hours with my friend helping. Great feeling to be pulling the Carvel with new axle, wheels and tires.

I never thought of turning the trailer over to put an axle on. Sure must make it easier.

Well, if I could find a way to rotate the photos I would have.... for the life of me I could not find a way to edit them.

I will rotate the photos if someone is kind enough to suggest a method to do so. Mr. IT I am not! Rather have a hammer in my hand.
