Manoeuvering Options

What do people use (apart from grunt) to manoeuvre their airstream please?

I’m too infirm to do it manually and have no friends 😉

The motor movers in the U.K. all need to have the chassis modified apparently. This wouldn’t have been a problem at the beginning of the build but it is now.

Any ideas?
Niall

Assuming you are asking about moving the trailer around your property/parking area when not connected to the tow vehicle.

I use a sub-compact tractor to move mine in/out of the barn and into position to hitch up the tow vehicle. The tractor has a 3-point hitch on the rear where a ball is mounted.

I use my tractor or my Gator. It's easier to maneuver the AS into my shop by using the front hitch on the Gator.

MustangGuy, I have a manual crank model, TrailerValet XL originally for a 23’ Flying Cloud. It came with a coupling that attached to the tongue jack to stabilize it (last photo).

We have a concrete driveway and pad to the side of our garage so I needed something to navigate the trailer in tight 10’ space.

We now have a 27’ Globetrotter which has a third more tongue weigh. I found TrailerValet makes a frame attachment mount with a post that is more stable but does limit the turning ability. I’m able to work around that because I’m making slight turns and mostly moving back and forth.

It’s a good workout but gets the job done for me. Your mileage may vary!

Good luck from across the pond.
Jeff

Totally forgot about this...We have the same Tractor Valet mounted on our 25-ft Airstream. Great for moving the trailer around once we get it inside the barn. Don't bother with the mount in the ball hitch though - definitely use the frame-mounted option like in these pictures.
