I believe 1970 is the last year for the single axle 22' Safari and I don't think there ever was a single axle 22' Argosy, but I could be wrong ~

Last year for a single axle 22' anything?

Greetings ob1coby!

Argosy never offered a single axle 22' coach in their standard line. The Argosy Minuet 6.7 Metre was a single axle coach titled as 22', and was offered from 1977 through 1979. The Minuets were only 7' wide so were 8" narrower than the regular Argosy travel trailers. The narrower width as well as cabinetry constructed of vinyl-clad aluminum helped to achieve weight savings permitting for more fuel efficient towing.

The Minuets have been enjoying increased popularity over the past few months, and a (very) few of the 6.7 Metre coaches were equipped with aluminum composite floors.

safari's were 23', in that era, and they made single axles up 'till 74, I think. I've only seen pics of the single axle ones from the early 70's, but the service manual for my 73 lists weights and specs for single and tandem axle models in the 23' safari. I did get to see a '69 single axle at the recent Region 1 rally. neat trailer...had the "70's" body style, but still had a "60's" interior. smaller wheel wells=more room inside.

just checked the vintage airstream archive, and confirmed that they do show a '74 safari 23' with a single axle.

The 23 foot Safari was available with a single axle from the 1969 models until the mid 1975 models.

In mid 1975, Airstream then outfitted the Safari with tandem axles.

So they came in both tandem and single axle, from '69 to '75, then from late 75 on, only as tandem...yes?

I know of several '71 tandems, and my own '73 tandem...I would only assume the same applied for the other years in that range, too.
