Installing a new Dexter Axle

As I understand it, the holes in the Dexter should line up with the axle mounting plate.

If they do not, then raise the axle in place, drill 3 each 1/2 inch holes, thru the axle mounting bracket and thru the axle mounting plate. Duplicate that for the other side.

Install the 1/2 inch grade 8 hardware, that should of been supplied, along with installation instructions from whoever you purchased the axle from.

Here's how I did it. Start at post 147 and it shows how I matched the axle to the holes that were already in the trailer.

Hey Alumanutz, my new Dexter has only two bolts per side, the original axle on my 1964 only had two bolts per side.
