Henschen
Henschen has indeed closed their plant in Jackson Center.
The good news is two fold.
The axles known as Henschen, will reappear in about 3 to 4 months, as best as can be determined at this time, equal to their standards, but under a different name. The manufacture of them will be supervised and controlled by a former top notch Henschen manager.
The warranty on Henschen axles will still be in full effect, through Inland RV Center, Inc.
The other part of the good news is that over 300 various rating and specs axles are in stock, for usually next day shipment. This should cover the down time of the transition.
There is no need to be concerned or worried about the closure, since the availability presently is quick shipment, instead of the 3 or 4 week production time delay.
The bottom line, still remains, "business as usual".

So, will they be manufactured by a subsidiary of Inland RV? If not, where will they be manufactured?

Not sure if they are a subsidiary of Inland, but from what I have learned Axis has hired the former manager of Henschen/GKN. Not sure if this the same "top notch Henschen manager" that was mentioned earlier.

I took a tour of the plant 3 years ago. The Airstream trailer end of the business was a small part. They made axles for everything from Bob Cats to D8 Caterpillars and military tanks.

Once years ago, I used this exact pick-up line years ago after getting to first base. Sadly, I got picked off on my way to second base.

I don't have all the details, but my new axles are supposed to be ready next week. I am scheduled to pick them up on Tuesday. The new factory is indeed located in Elkhart, IN.

The news is all "GOOD".
But, a couple of blanks still must be filled in.
Then the complete story can be told, instead of bits and pieces.
Be patient.
Most new things are like a puzzle. Gotta make all the pieces fit together.
As we all know, that can take a little time.

I spoke with the folks who are making the Henschen axles now. I originally planned to pick them up today, but there was an issue with an "arm" part of the assembly. They are going to be ready for pickup tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon. The plan is to run up to Elkhart, pick them up, come back down here for Thanksgiving with my family and Sister-in-Law's family, then return home to Atlanta. Once I return home, I will write a full report of the experience.
Hopefully by then Andy will have been able to fill in the blanks he mentioned. That way ya'll have a complete picture of the process.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Are Henschen axles the original type axles which came on our AS's?
