Cruisette Axel

I have '52 Cruisette with leaf springs and a straight axle. Currently working in a full frame off reno and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions or advice on replacing the axel? What is there is definitely not original. Should I change it to a torsion axle that Airstream says they will custom make for us or go with new leaf springs and a straight axle? Decision, decisions!

It will be less cost and period correct to stick with leaf springs. Leaf spings will have an added benefit of having a longer service life and if you need to in the future the leaf spings are servicable independant of the axle. (NOt so with a torsion axle)

My 55 FC has a leaf spring axle which is clearly not original but I see no reason to switch to a torsion axle.
Mine is quite robust and a bit taller than the original, which gives me a bit more ground clearance :-)
