Bent Axle

After a long road trip last summer we noticed that the front tires were disproportionately worn, on the outside edges. The tires were almost new, got them in 2019 when we bought our 25 ft International. The tire store says its a bent axle. We are in the queue at our local Airstream dealership for confirmation.
Anyone with experience with this? Im interested in what we might be in for in terms of cost.

The axles actually have a bend in them from the factory to adjust camber. If your tire store is not familiar with that fact they may have misinterpreted what they saw. I'm not saying you don't have a bent axle, but it depends on how bent it is and in what plane.

I would think that an axle bent by hitting a bump, curb or pothole would bend the wheel up and cause wear on the inside edge of the tire.

Did they check the play in your wheel bearings? That could be another cause.

You can have the alignment of your front wheels on your trailer inspected. Your Airstream dealer can do this, or probably a trailer repair shop can too. Redneck is a Dexter axle distributor and a capable trailer mechanics shop. And since Redneck knows Dexter axles, they can perform an alignment if needed.

As stated above the axle tube is made with a bend.
It is a very rare event that an axle tube is damaged so much in service it bends. It is possible just very rare.

The attached pic is of a brand new axle.
Here is the thread about it
