Axle replacement question-are they really worn out?

After looking at the previous post and the picture of old and new axles in the back of the PickUp, I have a question

Are they really worn out, in that I mean could the axles be used for another utility trailer.

On an Airstream the trailer would be lower and maybe the wheel would hit the wheelwell when they were worn

but if you mounted them on another trailer and kept the angle of the trailing arm proper , do old axles still have proper rotation ? Or did the rotation die when the internal rubber wore out ?

I am just not sure if the movement shifted to farther in the arch, or if its gone for good ?

PS....this is done at Midnight and its the best I can explain it, long weekend !

thanks for your ideas ?

Worn Axles

From what I understand the older axles had a different rubber compound in them, then the axles manufactured now have in them. I would guess that the axles do not have the rotation or travel, that they had in them when they were new. I have a single axle flat bed utility trailer, that has a single "house trailer" axle on it now. I am thinking of installing my old axles on this and making it a tandem. For this type of usage the old axles should be fine. The trailer is used off road most of the time, for hauling a 450 gallon water tank.
