1963 Sovereign Twin

I have inherited my grandparents ‘63 Sovereign. I’m preparing to transport it 971 miles to Texas for renovation. It has been in dry storage since 1978. Other then new tires can any other repairs wait until I have it in Texas?

Sounds like a fun project. We’ve towed a couple across the country on recovery missions. One from upper Michigan and one from Sacramento. Tires are the first thing. Along with that we made sure that the bearings were in good shape and packed. I took along a laser temperature gauge to check the heat of the wheels periodically. I took extra lug nuts, a jack, more safety chain and connectors, wire crimps and wire in the event I had to do some tail light work, hand held pop rivet gun with a drill and rivets (Good thing I did on the laist one cause the belly pan started coming down and I was losing all my chipmonks and mice), my tool box and plenty of rope/aluminum tape. Check the size of the hitch ball. Good luck and take it easy with frequent stops. Bubba

Wheel bearings and brakes, along with lights would be on my bare minimum list. An overall inspection of the frame and exterior to make sure nothing's going to fall apart during the trip.
