Washer Dryer Installed in International 27

Here are some photos of our Washer Dryer Combo installed in a 2021 International 27 FBT in the hallway closet. Needed to modify the closet area to handle the weight, supply hot and cold water, a washer drain standpipe, a new 110 VAC receptacle and an exhaust vent with damper.

I also needed to modify the Equator V3 model 5500 Washer / Dryer Combo to work more efficiently when drying in vented mode. To do this, I separated the internal condenser drying sub-system from the internal air blower intake to enable a much stronger vented air flow.

Modified shelf support carries weight directly to the floor. Installed machine is cargo strapped down via slots in the shelf to tie downs on the floor.

The modified closet space with a drop in tray with tracks to protect the original shelf. Still useable as a closet if you were to remove the machine.

Nice, clean install!

ETroup, bravo on the professional looking installation!

That’s a very creative use of the wardrobe space. I imagine you are planning to use it with full hookups? How much water does it use for a cycle? Does the dryer use 110V electric for it’s heat source?

Thanks for sharing your work with the Airstream community!

These machines require 15 Amps on a 110 VAC circuit. Being a front loader, they use about 8-10 gals of water per normal load. They use about 1200-1500 watts when drying.

I bought a tandem circuit breaker to replace the existing single breaker used for the Convection Oven / Microwave and ran an oversized 12-gauge instead of 14-gauge wire to a single receptacle in the closet. Fortunately, there is a cable tray under the floor from the electrical panel to the area under the closet, so this was relatively easy.

Wife wanted to be able to run small loads of mostly white stuff and towels. Being able to run two or three loads as needed greatly reduces the amount of stuff we need to carry. The machine is actually very quiet most of the cycle.

Many of these smaller machines are strangely inefficient drying. I was able to cut drying time in half with my modifications. It was simply a problem of not enough air getting into the machine. There was plenty of heat and fan capacity but not enough airflow.
