Portable Washer/Dryer

Does anyone have one that isn't permanently installed that they are happy with? We're looking at a couple of multiweek trips and the ability to do a couple of loads is appealing. Yes, I know there are laundromats, but we'd like to avoid those for a few different reasons. I'm not thinking full timing capacity, just enough to do some light loads. (We have boys. Yes, they'd wear the same muddy clothes for two weeks if I'd let them, but I'm trying to keep the interior of the airstream clean....) We have space in the back of our tow vehicle.

Thanks!

I've seen only 2 AS units over the years that installed a washer/dryer single unit; always wondered "why"? They take up space, use/dispose of water, and seems you can get multiple loads done much faster in a laundromat? But, hey, what do I know? See them a lot in Class A MH and 5th wheels for sure, but seems the AS fresh water and holding tanks and the room it would take up outweigh the perceived benefit, IMHO.

Will be interesting now to see the washer/dryer crowd enlighten me.

Would be handy, but...

I have a little Panda washing machine, the kind you can get at camping world. It's tiny, but will do the job mostly. It won't handle sheets. You have to fill it & empty it by hand. You have to dispose of the gray water. I've used it inside my shower, but try to use it outdoors, using tubs to handle the water. It doesn't use much water, maybe 3 gallons a load, but still, when boondocking, that can be a lot. It works best for underwear and socks and light shirts in between a visit to a laundromat. But ultimately what I have found is that I don't use it a lot of places due to whether the environment where we happen to be is conducive to drying the clothes in a reasonable amount of time. Arizona? Works great! New Hampshire woods? Don't bother! Even in my little 19' it's still worth it's weight!
