Will Nest Thermostat work with Airstream?

I have a Nest Thermostat in my home and LOVE it. I was wondering if it's possible to use one as an alternative to the Dometic thermostat? The greatest advantage is that when it is connected to the WiFi signal at a campground, I can turn on/off/up/down the A/C or heat from my phone.

Has anyone done this?

I have one too and love it, But I don't think it could easily work in the AS. Different wiring setup and voltage needs, as I recall. But the biggest thing as I see choverit would how to make the auto switch over from heat pump to furnace. I'm sure that an electronics wizard could "make" it work, but that ain't me. I'm not sure the benefit is worth the effort. You would need 24/7 wireless internet access to get any benefit at all.

Sorry to say that it won't work. Dometic uses proprietary digital signals from their relay control board to the t/stats. If you were so inclined and equipped, I'm sure you could duplicate the signals and be able to modify them for your use in ant t/stat.

If you are that techie and you succeed........let me know!

I would have 24/7 wifi (unless I leave on a trip) since my Airstream spends most of it's time parked in a seasonal spot at Hidden Ridge RV Resort. It's only 15 minutes from my home, and it makes a great home base and mini-getaway for the kids.

I didn't think it would work, since the Dometic thermostat looks like it is attached with a landline phone jack connector. For my circumstances, it would be great to be able to turn on the A/C or heat before I leave my house to head for the campground.

Aaah, if only technology could keep up with my fantasies....

Keep looking...others are producing smarter t-stats as well.
