Water Heater keeps going out

Hey Guys,

I just picked up my 2015 30ft airstream. It had been winterized and I flushed all the anti freeze out of the pipes and filled the fresh water tank. In the water heater section outside, I put the plug back in that Colonial told me to do. Now when I turn on the water heater (both electric and gas) the pilot light goes out after 1 minute of heating the water. I haven't been able to get hot water yet and was curious if someone might be able to tell me what I am doing wrong?

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe

You wrote that the trailer had been winterized and that all you did after "de-winterizing" was to put fresh water into the fresh water tank. Did you turn on the pump and fill the hot water tank? Simply filling the fresh water tank does not put any water into the hot water tank. To fill the hot water tank, you will need to either connect to city water or turn on your pump and open a faucet which is turned to "hot" to let the hot water tank fill up. If you try and run the hot water tank when it is empty it could get damaged.

Thanks AnnArborBob, I didn't know that, but I think I indirectly filled it anyway. I went ahead and did what you said just in case. The pilot is still going out.

I figured it out. When I bought it, it was already being winterized and the bypass was closed. The bypass was located under the mattress of my 30ft bunk. I opened it and everything is working great now. Thanks for posting your reply!
