Thermostat reading wrong temperature, fixed!

The HVAC system in my 2019 Globetrotter 27FB has had a problem since it was new. The thermostat read the wrong temperature, as much as 20 F off, sometimes high, sometimes low. I tried replacing the thermostat unit, and the problem continued. It looked like it was reading a remote temperature sensor, but trailers with a single AC unit (like mine) are not supposed to have a remote sensor. It turns out that sometimes the factory accidentally connects a remote sensor, but leaves the sensor somewhere inside the walls or ceiling, creating the bad temperature readings.

The fix was fairly simple. I simply removed the air return screens in the ceiling under the AC unit, found the extra sensor wires, and unplugged the conveniently located connector (photo attached). Immediately the thermostat started reading the correct temperature at the thermostat.

You May Be The First

After reading thousands of posts over many years, this is the first time I have ever heard of this one. Congrats on finding the problem and thank you for posting the results.
