Suburban furnace repair

Hey folks. Last time out, my Suburban furnace wouldn't light. I tracked it down to the sail switch which can get gunked up and not work properly. I wasn't looking forward to pulling the furnace out to get to the sail switch, so I wondered if sucking out the exhaust at the trailer exterior with my shop vac might dislodge the sail switch. It worked! Furnace fired right up! Now there's probably someone out there who will tell me all the bad things my technique could have done, but my red-neck solution might help someone else out there.
Cheers!

Be sure to add a carbon monoxide detector to your trailer .
There’s a possibility of perforation of the heat exchanger in that old of a heater .
Suburban recalled the NT furnaces of the late 60’s early 70’s for that problem .

There is a recall notice in my build thread about that , take a look just click the link in my signature.

The sail switch is in the blower housing and isolated from your exhaust. The blower motor is double ended with the interior blower fan on one end and the squirrel cage for the intake/exhaust on the other. It really should not have accomplished anything unless spinning the fan backwards dislodged whatever junk was clogging up your sail switch out.

As Glenritas said, make sure you have a carbon monoxide detector.
