What is actually damaged? From your photo I can only see damage to the white styrofoam piece. Did they get into the wiring? Does the unit work? The styrofoam and the cover are both replaceable. The Dometic Penguins come in three flavors. No heat strip (easily added), with a heat strip and a heat pump. Which do you have?

BTW - Cull the herd - squirrel can be tasty if cooked correctly.......

The heating unit doesn’t work anymore . My RV repairman came out and thinks the entire unit needs to be replaced. Said of course Dometic won’t cover it under warranty. Curious if USAA will cover the damage.

Fairly powerless feeling because I have this killer rig. Great set up in back. And no idea what to do.

One of the main concerns is that if I get this replacement unit it doesn’t have heat but I can get a good deal on it. Or should I go full bore on it and get a new unit. But risk the squirrels.

Then there is the nagging question of whether or not it’s truly destroyed or repairable.

You need a “Toby”!

Our Carin Terrier hates squirrels and chipmunks. I found a dead squirrel in the yard and asked him if he knew anything about it.

“I have no idea how that got there”...

By the way, this seems to be a common occurrence: https://www.google.com/search?q=squi...=airforums.com

I heard there was a tape you can use to wrap the wires when you get it fixed. The tape has a coating of cayenne pepper. I never investigated further.

My neighbor has been bedeviled with squirrels/rodents, eating his car wires. He keeps his hoods raised with lights and music playing. Seems to work.

I occasionally spray a rodent repellent under the hood, smells like pepper and peppermint. Never had a problem...yet

Look on amazon.

Same with my Cairn. She’ll chase them, but she’s never caught one. Click image for larger version

Oh my, she’s a doll! Very similar color and shading as Toby. Darker face and lighter body. What’s her name / age? Toby will be 8 on April Fool’s Day. And yes, it matches his personality

Her name is Ethel and she'll be 6 next month. After having Welsh Corgis forever, we tried a Cairn. She was great and healthy and she lived to 17. So, Ethel is our 2nd one. She has really changed color since young and still seems to be evolving.
