SoftStartUSA AC Soft Starter

On a rare occasion, I've had issues where the shore power struggles to start the AC Compressor. In which case the AC turns off to allow a timed cool down of the compressor motor while you warm up in the van!!!

When you are camping with several hundred other bicyclists in Wichita Falls for the Hotter 'N Hell 100, you and everyone else is pulling the campground grid down. And trust me you want AC.

So I just purchase the SoftStartUSA Soft Starter. https://www.softstartusa.com. I'm hoping to receive and install before I depart later this week for KY & TN, because the claim is you can run the AC from a 20 amp circuit. This would be nice since I will be moochdocking in family driveways.

I'll prepare and install dock and let ya'll know the results.

Hope it helps. We have an EasyStart from Micro-Air. Without it we would never be able to start our AC from our inverter.

I've noticed that the EasyStart seems to work in mysterious ways (which AFAIK are good ways). I, too, have been plugging in and running the a/c on a campground system that tends to be unstable (new for me - I've assiduously avoided running the roof unit until this year, when circumstances began demanding it). We've got an internal surge protector that is part of this dance, but the EasyStart itself seems to be making certain decisions, at times.

I've learned to leave the whole thing alone if it starts acting up. It's like a Weeble that will wobble but won't fall down. It'll sort itself out on its own and start back up when the time is right.

The EasyStart has a timer that limits how quickly you can restart the compressor motor after turning it off or a previous start attempt.
