SoftStart on two AC FC

My FC 28RBQ has the two AC/heat pump option. One is 13.5k BTU and the other is 15K BTU. I haven't been on the roof yet, to know which one is in the front and which is in the back. I bought a SoftStart to put on one of the units, as we feel we can get by with one AC when not on shore power. I have 2 Champion 2200 generators I run on propane, and hope with this install, I will be able to get by with only having to travel with one of them.

Is it simple to tell which AC unit is which? What are people's thoughts on which unit to install the SoftStart on?

Usually the 15k is in the front. That is where I would put the easy start. You will absolutely be able to travel with just one 2200 and keep things cool. Park in the shade if you can, that makes a giant difference. Sometimes in the full sun, it doesn’t matter how many ACs you have.

When you take the AC covers off, one of the Dometic Labels will state the "NOM.BTU", amoung other info. On the 13.5K unit it will be printed "13.5" , on the 15K unit the "Nom.BTU" will be marked as "Hi Cap". I can't explain why is says 'Hi Cap' instead of 15K BTU but that's the way mine are labeled.

On my A/S the 15K (Hi Cap) is the front unit, the 13.5K is the rear unit. I installed MicroAir Easy Starts on both. That gives me the flexibility to use either one on my generator, a Honda 'Genconnex' propane only EU-2000.

Good information. Just to add to the discussion for others, on my 2020 27’ FBT Globetrotter the 15K unit is in the back and is wired as Zone 2 on the thermostat. So, I assume that they set them up to have the 15k unit over the galley area.
